Team Building Experiences (Activities)
Connecting to Others - Learn how Cross the Line and The Story of Kyle gives students "the opportunity to be vulnerable and recognize they are not alone." (Gabby)
Inspiring Quotes (and How They can be Used)
A Community Ready to Help - A quote from Nathaniel Hawthorne is shared to show us how helping each other is not a weakness, but a true gift. (A Challenge Wall example is used to emphasize the power of the quote.) (Kaia)
Debriefing & Processing Tools
Mindful Meditations and Empathy - Mindful meditations can be used in many different ways to process group experiences. (Mara)
Debriefing Tool: Hands & Feet - Hands and feet mini-props are used as a take-away (and give-aways) to remember group experiences. "Pick a person in the group who gave you a helping hand or grounded you (implying the foot) today. Present them with a hand/foot and let them know how they helped you." (Annisa)
Debriefing Tool: Transformation - A stuffed (literally) caterpillar that turns into a butterfly to metaphor 'transformation' or growth and recognizing movement into new skills and abilities. (Philip)
Lessons Learned So Far...
Letting Go - My experience taught me that letting go of control allowed the natural flow of things to take over for the benefit of the participants and the leader (me). (Ellie)
Mindful Meditations and Empathy - The biggest lesson I have learned over the past three years of being a leader is that empathy is the leader's super power. (Mara)
Balancing Your Strengths - Finding balance, not only within your group, but also within yourself. (Philip)
We're In This Together - Bringing a high school adventure call closer together. (Charlotte)
About Community Even with the most diverse group of people, we can create community. (Kaia)
Go With The Flow - Even when things don't go according to plan, you can still be confident and facilitate through it. (Annisa)
Questions from YoungTeamBuilders
